From June 4th to 6th, GMV sponsored the i-SAIRAS 2018, the 14th International Symposium on Artificial Intelligence, Robotics and Automation in Space, a meeting of the world´s foremost experts and organizations in these leading edge space applications. The event took place at the Ayre Gran Hotel Colón, in Madrid (SPAIN).

i-SAIRAS is the primary gathering event for the international community of professionals working on the application in space of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Automation and Robotics (A&R).

The Symposium was a forum for discussion that showcased new ideas and ground breaking research and development in artificial intelligence, robotics and automation in space.

Jorge Ocón Alonso, GMV´s Head of On-Board Autonomy Division within Space segment & Robotics Business Unit– Aerospace and Technical coordinator of ERGO project, made a presentation about: " Using the ERGO framework for space robotics in a planetary and an orbital scenario" within the autonomy framework of isairas.

The presentation included an overview of the problematic for the orbital and the planetary as well as a description of the main components in ERGO and its role within the architecture.

The International Symposium on Artificial Intelligence, Robotics and Automation in Space (i-SAIRAS) is organized every two years by the Canadian Space Agency (CSA-ASC), the German Aerospace Agency (DLR), The European Space Agency (ESA), the Japanese Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) and the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) of the United States of America.
